Ironies in India

Some ironies in India just boggle my mind.
  • We associate everything from river names to places with the female gender, heck we even refer to our country as Mother India; but in reality we degrade the female gender with abusive language, actions and labelling them with stereotypes.
  • We were the ones to have come up with yoga, but nowadays the increasing popularity for it is because it is so popular in the western countries and we are blindly going with the flow as a part of westernization.
  • We say that Indian music has its true Indian touch, but off-late the Hip-hop, EDM and Techno happens to be the genre in which most songs come out.
  • Our elders are against the concept of hooking up with strangers on web and apps like Tinder. But they do the same things with what they call Matrimonial sites.
  • People bargain with street vendors, but pays for overpriced items in the malls including tax.
  • People buy artificial tender coconut juice 250 ml for 30 Rs; But are not ready to buy a natural tender coconut for 20 Rs. Same applies to many other products.
  • The salaries of private institution teachers and government school teacher; to the ratio of stress and workload involved in both scenarios.
  • Police men are supposed to protect us from crimes we actually fear; But we have more scared of the policemen than others.
